The Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., will host Democratic delegates from the party?s strongholds, partisan battlegrounds, and states dominated by Republicans for decades. The map above shows the percentage of each state?s population who say they support the Democratic Party or lean toward it, based on polling data from Gallup released in August. Washington D.C. residents are the most likely to identify with the Democratic Party. The most Democratic states are Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. The least are Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho. To flip to last week's Republican map, click the "Show Republicans" tab. To see both maps combined, click the "Show Both" tab.
