Woody Allen has worked with a long list of beauties in his historic film career which include the likes of Diane Keaton, Mariel Hemingway and Scarlett Johansson.
In his latest film, the director reteams with Penelope Cruz and works with up-and-coming actresses Greta Gerwig and Ellen Page in "To Rome With Love." Allen told OnTheRedCarpet.com at the film's premiere that working with the actresses was "a nice way to make a living."
"It's a treat, you know, most guys come to work in the morning, they're in offices and they don't get to do this," Allen said on June 14. "I come to work in the morning and there's Penelope Cruz and Ellen Page."
"These women are so beautiful and I've done that my whole life, I've been able to work with, you know -- because actresses, many beautiful women gravitate to acting," he added. "So you get to work with scintillating men, guys who are good looking and charming and fun and beautiful women. It's a nice way to make a living."
"To Rome With Love" tells four different stories of people in Italy which includes American tourists as well as Italian residents. Alec Baldwin and "The Social Network" star Jesse Eisenberg also star in the film. Baldwin plays as an architect and Eisenberg is a young man who falls in love with his girlfriend's best friend.
Allen, 76, is a four-time Academy Award-winning screenwriter and director. He is likely best known for films like "Annie Hall," "Husbands and Wives," "Hannah and her Sisters" and "Match Point."
The director is also known for his controversial relationship with Soon-Yi Previn, the adopted daughter of his former leading lady and ex-girlfriend Mia Farrow. Allen and Previn wed in December 1997 in Venice, Italy and have two adopted daughters.
"To Rome With Love," marks the first time Allen has acted in a film since the 2006 movie "Scoop."
"Only when I finished writing the script, there was a part that I could play," Allen explained about his return to acting. "Now I would have really like to have played Jesse Eisenberg's part but I'm too old. That's the part I would've like to play, the romantic part with the beautiful girl."
"To Rome With Love" hit theaters on June 22. Check out the trailer for the film below.
